our History

Heavenly Orphans Project was founded in 2010, by Judith Schnur with a vision of bringing hope, compassion, and a lifelong love of animals to those in need. In 2013, a strategic partnership with Lighthouse expanded the organization into four dedicated divisions, broadening our reach and strengthening our ability to serve homeless veterans, people in need, and animals requiring rescue, medical care, and loving homes.

Today, Heavenly Orphans Project is a Veteran-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring hope through compassionate service and meaningful community partnerships. Guided by our enduring principle, "Leave No One Behind," we work to improve lives by addressing the needs of both people and animals. Throughout our journey, we have united with a diverse network of dedicated partners to develop innovative programs that restore hope and transform lives through direct action. From providing essential resources for people in need to delivering life-saving veterinary care, our mission remains anchored in integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to creating a better tomorrow.

Our Mission

To serve people and animals with compassion, dignity, and purpose. Through collaborative community partnerships, we provide essential support to homeless individuals, veterans, and animals requiring rescue, medical care, rehabilitation, or loving homes. We also transform neglected properties into safe, places of hope, and opportunity.

Our Vision

A future where every person has hope, every animal has a chance, and every community is strengthened through compassion, collaboration, and lasting change.
